Apr. 25th, 2021 The 6th Shimbukan Zoom Seminar
As always Akamine Hiroshi Kaicho gifted us with a seminar that was informative and well-organized.
But that does not BEGIN to define how inspired and highly motivated this student felt at the end of an amazing hour.
This is my 5th seminar. I am so honored to be part of this organization and to have a chance to "meet" Akamine Kaicho. Even though we are on Zoom and thousands of miles apart, he made it feel personal for each and every one of us. He checks through all the screens as we perform Kata to the count.
And stops to explains salient points, and work the bunkai to clarify each action.
This (and other) seminars have been at 4:00 a.m. EST for me. But the warmth, humor, vast knowledge and gorgeous Kata left my head spinning and body literally vibrating with energy.
I feel SO grateful and highly motivated!!
Domo arigato gozaimasu!

These zoom seminars by Kaicho have been very precious & invaluable for us. During these Covid times, with each session they actually transport us to Okinawa and get us valuable lessons from the Master himself!! Thank you so much for arranging this

The 6th Shimbukan Zoom Seminar was really intense clinic featuring the breakdown and movements of Sakugawa-no-kon-sho. I honestly have to say I really picked up a ton of information regarding the proper flow of the kata along with the bunkai and counter attacks featuring redirection and counters that when properly executed really showcase the power of the bo as a self defense weapon. I'm really glad to be part of this kobudo style and look forward to learning and growing in the future. Kaicho Hiroshi Akamine does an excellent job at explaining proper waza. Also, thank you Sensei Dell Hamby for the additional detail insight and further explanations on the waza. I did learn and retain the embusen for this kata. Domo Arigato Gozaimas!

Another enjoyable informative session with Akamine Sensei.
It has been an honour to attend these and take away so much. Always we pickup small things we have either missed or forgotten, as well as refinements. Many thanks.

Jan Schluchter and I would like to thank for the great 6th Shimbukan Seminar. It was very instructive and interesting,
A great seminar and a lot of knowledge. We have the best Karate teachers in the world. I can't wait to go to Okinawa. Best wishes. Marek

In this pandemic, as we are unable to come to train with the Jundokan masters in person, it is great to be able to receive their teaching over video. Of course, this is not like training in the dojo, but it allows us to continue learning from the masters and foster the relationship with them. It also gives us the occasion to see virtually many of the Jundokan family from across the world and keep in touch.

Thank you for 4th Jundokan Zoom Seminar, which I found enjoyable. I particularly appreciated ‘Seiyunchin Bunkai’ and detail provided by all the Sensei was informative.
Looking forward to practicing what was taught.

The last Jundokan seminar was again of a high standard. Nice diversity and everything explained in detail. My students and myself enjoyed it.
We are happy with this initiative in which there are many limitations by Corona.

Hello from Western Australia. As the Covid-19 virus has ended the possibility of returning to Okinawa in the immediate future, I am happy to continue to support the Jundokan dojo via the regular Zoom seminars.

Here in New Zealand we consider ourselves extremely lucky in that we have only experienced a short period of COVID-19 lockdown; life is, as far as possible, back to normality.
We are grateful to Jundokan Honbu, Okinawa and the senior Jundokan Masters for organising and participating in this series of on-line seminars. All Shibucho and their students from around the world can keep in contact and experience valuable in-site in the traditional Jundokan teaching.
We look forward to participating in future seminar series.
I was really happy to be able to participate to the seminar.
The organisation was well done and during the seminar, I found it well explained and it was nice to get some personal feedback from Akamine Sensei.
Even if sometimes it went too fast for me, I consider it as normal: I'm a beginner in the usage of Tonfa.

Once again i was impressed with the 5th Seminar covering kihon, and kata of Tonfa.
Akamine Sensei imparts his knowledge easily and in a way we can all understand from beginners to senior ranks
Picking up the small details which we usually miss or forget is priceless.
It makes the seminars so worthwhile.
Looking forward to the next one.

It has always been a great privilege to train with Kaicho Akamine and although online seminar is not ideal, Kaicho Akjamine and Sensei Dell Hamby are so willing to teach, show new kata and share more knowledge on kobudo. I would like to thank Ageshio, Carlo and Kenny, for all your help to organize and promote these seminars.
The 5th Shimbukan seminar was very interesting. Under the lead of Kaicho Akamine Sensei we covered all the program about tonfa Kihon. Was great to see all the details and with the help of Hamby Sensei all the explanations were very clear. So very satisfied. Thanks also to your organization.
Matteo BriantiASD Karate&Kobudo Moncalieri
The online seminar is quite good.
Akamine Kancho explained so much details with all level friendly speed. This really helped me to improve my tonfa skills.
(Especially in this year, many overseas students go Okinawa to can’t get coached.)

I am glad to be able to take part in these kobudo seminars. Akamine Sensei is very clear in his explanations and I enjoy when he shows the applications of the techniques.
I especially like when he demonstrates the techniques and explains how the hip action applies to the techniques. I also like Sensei`s attention to detail in performing the basic techniques.
Thank you for allowing me to take part and I look forward to future seminars.

Yes the seminar was great because our Senseis are great! And in this difficult times it makes happy to meet and see them and also our friends from all over the world.

All the best wishes from Jundokan Karate-Do Austria and thank you very much for offering the Video. It is great; so we have the opportunity to see it some times often and maybe detect some interesting details. At this time because of Corona we can not train in our usual halls but all in all we find always possibilities for performing some trainings. In Austria we also use the webtraining in different clubs.
Of course we will attend Your next web seminar and we are looking forward, that it will be held on a Sunday.
thank you for your email，I will definitely continue to attend！

Thank you for organizing the Bo seminar on Sunday. We enjoyed it very much. We liked the combination of kihon review, kata, and bunkai demonstration. Thank you again for organizing these seminars. We greatly appreciate the opportunity to "be in the hombu dojo" while we wait out the corona virus.

The seminar was excellent! The content was detailed and covered the material that was advertised. The use of front and back views made it much easier to follow the instruction.

Bo seminar went very well. 👍🏻
Pin mics fine, I didn’t need the front & back views however students not familiar with the content would appreciate the different views I suspect. Cheers, Rick
I really liked the information and presentation, I also liked being able to see and interact with the other participants. The sound was sometimes difficult to understand, I think maybe next time a wearable mic would make it easier to understand what is being said.
Thank you very much for hosting this event!

The seminar for me was great. I would like to see in the future more about Kata application "bunkai", also pressure points in Kata applications. It is important to translate the questions made in Japanese from other Senseis to english so we can learn from their questions and answers too.

It was a great idea to organize this Web Seminar; both the technical performance of the Web administrators as well as the content of the first session as an icebreaker were perfectly fine. Especially seeing all our friends throughout the world and the possible discussions were simply great and caused much fun.

First of all I would like to thank you for supporting the Honbu dojo of Jundokan and making it possible for us to train with the Senseis and the members of the Jundokan family in that way. It was a good feeling to see them all well-being in this difficult time.
Referring the content I would like to say that for this first web-seminar it was a good solution to train basics and get special details about it by the Senseis.
Mag. Manuela FischerJundokan Karatedo Austria
It was a very good and I loved the experience. I registered the masters's efforts to be well understood in that first experience. In my oppinion it should continue more often.
My special hugs for everybody and particular for the Jundokan big masters. Thanks again for the opportunity.

I enjoyed the seminar very much. Maybe for future seminars we have less content, but with more in depth discussion and details, weather it be kata and bunkai, hojo undo, Kihon/Kihon Ido, Junbi undo, just looking at the different aspects in more detail.

The lesson was very well I prepared and so structured. perfect! learned a lot from watching and making notice. I’m very much looking forward to the next seminar!

The zoom seminar was very enjoyable.
The only suggestion I can make would be to have a movable camera, when sensei is doing kata or basics. It would make our viewing of sensei's techniques more accessible.
A drawing board may be of use, Sensei could use it to explain angles of the kata if necessary.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Shimbukan Tekko seminar.
Akamine sensei is a wonderful instructor and can help us improve equally both in person and by online tuition.
I did very much enjoyed the seminar. I always learn may things to improve my technique.

I found the overall seminar to be excellent with regard to content. The kihon explanations were clear and easy to follow. Dell Hamby Sensei's translations
helped. I especially liked the use of bunkai to explain each part of the kata. It was also helpful when Hamby Sensei and Akamine Sensei showed the kata from 2 different directions.

Thanks for the wonderful experience for the seminar. I hope that in the future there will be others, and in this regard i would be interested in the seminar scheduled for the month of January.
Was a good prepared seminar. Sometimes the voice of Kaicho or Dell Hamby Sensei was a little bit silent but no problem.

The seminar was very informative. There were specifics about the kata that I appreciated hearing about more in depth. I enjoyed the opportunity to train with Sensei. Thank you for making this happen! In future seminars, it would be nice to alternate between beginning kata and advanced kata.
Thank you again for all your hard work in putting this together.

It was very nice to see familiar faces. I miss those people very much and especially Uema Yasuhiro sensei. I wanted to greet them all, but in that last rush, my call was lost. But it was still great. Thank you for that.

Very good. I would appreciate to have 5-10 minutes time for greeting from individual participants to the others (each participant might say his/her short hello to the other for few seconds/minute).
Thank you for the organization.

It was a very enjoyable seminar without disappointing for me. Hoping to installing a camera to show the “Ushiroshoumen / Back-front” to see when they doing Kata towards to the back-front. Thanks once again for helping to create an amazing opportunity to meeting my Sensei and those other dojo mates.
Have a nice day and great week.

I enjoyed the seminar very much. Thank you for this opportunity. It was so nicely authentic and it brought me again into the Uema Dojo for a moment at least. This of course couldn't substitute the in-person trainings in a real dojo, however it is nice step forward in order to keep continuity and support each other. Having said that, there are valuable takeaways from the online seminar. Thank you again.
